PVGCD OFFERS “MAJOR RIVERS” PROGRAM TO
DISTRICT SCHOOLS
Pecan Valley Groundwater
Conservation District, in an effort to promote water education and conservation
practices, is providing the “Major Rivers” curriculum to many of the
Intermediate schools in the District.
The program was initiated in the 2006-07 school year and is financially
supported by PVGCD for subsequent years providing perishables and updated
materials.
“Major Rivers” is a TEKS affiliated, two-week
course that includes teacher lesson plans, student workbooks, and fun-filled
educational experiments. “Major Rivers”
and his horse, “Aquifer,” will take students through seven lessons ranging from
explanation of the water cycle, to the importance of conserving our life-giving natural resource …. WATER.
